A ready mixed flammable
coating designed for use in the manufacture of heavy
section iron and steel castings, mainly for CO2
Process.
ZIRCOTE-256 is
produced under factory-controlled conditions using high
quality Zircon and ceramics as the refractory base.
HOW TO USE
Always remix the coating
thoroughly before use especially after prolonged storage
or transportation and then check the Baume read. A
mechanical stirrer or a hand plunger may he used. The
coating will be stable for a long period after mixing.
The consistency of the
product as supplied is suitable for application by brush
or swab but for spraying or dipping it may be diluted as
necessary with Grade 1 Isopropanol.
After application of the
coating it should be ignited in order to burn off the
solvent. The mould may then be closed and metal can be
poured immediately. As an alternative to burning off the
solvent, it may be allowed to evaporate over several hours
after which the resultant coating layer will be firmly
bonded. The Coating is particularly suited for CO2
process.
A second coat may be applied
if required once the first coat is completely dry.
