A ready mixed flammable
coating designed for use in the manufacture of iron
castings.
METCOTE-144 is
produced under factory-controlled conditions using high
quality graphite as the refractory base.
HOW TO USE
Always remix the coating
thoroughly before use especially after prolonged storage
or transportation and then check the Baume reading. A
mechanical stirrer or a hand plunger may be used. The
coating will be stable for a long period after mixing.
The consistency of the
product as supplied is suitable for application by brush
or swab but for flooding, spraying or dipping it may be
diluted as necessary with pure Isopropanol alcohol or in
this case with water.
After application of the
coating it can be ignited in order to bum off the solvent
if ignited with IPA. The mould may then be closed and
metal can be poured immediately. As an alternative to
burning off the solvent or if the coating is diluted with
water, it may be allowed to evaporate over several hours
after which the resultant coating layer will be firmly
bonded.
A second coat may be applied
if required once the fir coat is completely dry.
